ON ICE TESTING

Camp & Academy Testing

On Ice Testing is incorporated into all CHA Camp and Academy programs. We provide an opportunity for all of our participants to participate in a set of standard tests where each athlete tried to achieve the best that they can in the following areas:

  • Forward Speed Lap
  • Backwards Speed Lap
  • Agility Test With The Puck
  • Shot Speed
  • Maximum Speed Test ** New**

A report card is filled out on site and provided to the athlete and all of their data is stored with us where they can come back and try to beat their scores at future camps. This testing provides the data needed for the 10 level rating system that CHA uses. The levels are shown by coloured stickers that go on player helmets to establish their current level - each new testing day provides an opportunity for the player to beat their scores and move up to a new level!

Team Testing & Individual Testing

CHA has invested in state-of-the-art testing equipment that provides laser-perfect testing scores. All of the tests are set up the exact same way and scores are automatically recorded through a proprietary bracelet system that records their scores and sends them to our cloud for analysis. Report cards are provided both in person after the tests are completed as well as digitally. Players are sent a digital copy of their report card, plus a login link to view their profile at any time. On the athlete portal, players can view previous scores and set new goals for themselves to track their progress.

All the tests are standard tests but we have the ability to include any custom tests athletes and coaches wish to see. For example, some athletes want to test their reaction time, and with our new laser gates, we can flash a light on the gate indicating when to start and when to stop. We can also test speed at multiple intervals to track how much faster or slower the athlete moves between each gate or turn. This helps identify where the athlete may need to work on strength and conditioning, balance, or stride mechanics.

Fees:

Initial benchmark tests are $200 per team, or $100 per individual player (plus the cost of ice).

Follow-up tests are $50/player for groups under 10 or $30/player for groups with 10-18 participants, which is half the price of most other testing systems!

**Note to test individuals, the ice is not provided. However, testing can be done in tandem with some of our on-ice programs. Inquire for more information.

CHA PA Day clinics are incredible - fast-paced and amazing coaching! I was also really impressed with the camp we did after Christmas. My kiddo was so bummed when it was time for me to pick him up because he wanted to stay! We couldn’t be happier.

Our daughter has been attending CHA drop in sessions and PA Day clinics for years, and has fun every time. The sessions are high paced and action packed, and have really helped with our daughters edgework, shot and overall confidence. The instructors are the real deal, and are great with the kids. If your child loves the sport and wants to get better, these are the guys and gals you want helping your child to reach their goals.

Our boys (aged 11 and 6) have been attending drop-in and PD Day clinic sessions at CHA for several years. They run a fast-paced, skills-based program for all levels of players. We have seen the benefits of their teaching in our boys’ performance on the ice, and in their overall self confidence. All of the CHA instructors are very skilled and importantly, very good with the kids. We cannot say enough good things about CHA.

Our son loves your drop-in program and it’s really made a difference in his overall skill level. As a parent I love not only the level of instruction my son is receiving, but also the fun he has and the way that all the coaches work to connect with the kids. CHA has been a really fun, worthwhile addition to our hockey life!
